
The total length of the republican public highways is 5993 km. In order to effectively utilize the resources of the road fund, a survey of the national network of roads and engineering structures was conducted. Based on its findings, the program includes the sections where necessary works will be carried out in terms of roadway condition and road safety.
Of the total amount, 1.11 billion lei are planned directly for the maintenance of the national roads. The expenses for their maintenance are divided into summer and winter periods: 195 million lei and 80 million lei, respectively.
The repair of the road surface on the regional roads with G index will be carried out on different sections in 31 raions, Balti municipality and Gagauzia. In total, 143.42 kilometers will be repaired. For this purpose, tenders for the procurement of works were held between August and November 2024, and according to their results, 35 contractual agreements were concluded. The completion period for all contracts was set at 11 months. Thus, they should be completed in 2025. The total amount of the works procured amounted to 633.9 million lei. Last year, a part of them – worth 41.7 million lei – was completed. Therefore, 592.3 million lei is planned for the implementation of these projects.
Also, the program envisages the capital repair of eight roads R and G worth 367 million lei, as well as six bridges worth 125.5 million lei.
Lei 184.7 million is planned for the “management of public roads”, including Lei 150.2 million for the maintenance of the state enterprise “State Administration of Roads” (it is under reorganization). The same section allocates 15 million lei for the premises of the testing laboratory to be set up. Its employees will control the quality of construction materials and road repair works managed by the State Road Administration. The laboratory will also carry out research, elaborate and draw up technical norms and authorizations for new materials and technologies for the road sector.
For this laboratory, machinery and equipment will be purchased to implement modern standards for testing materials in the road sector and a traffic accounting system, worth 3.4 million lei.
Among the road fund’s expenses, there are also funds for arbitration and judicial costs, which are expected to cost 19.5 million lei.
