The extraordinary session has been convened due to the need to adopt, as a matter of priority, a package of important legislative acts. These acts are related to the Republic of Moldova’s commitments within the framework of the European integration process and are provided for in the National Program for Accession to the European Union.
The draft agenda for the plenary sessions scheduled for August 24 and 25 includes 36 legislative acts, 22 of which are EU-related. The agenda will be approved by the Standing Bureau tomorrow.
The draft bills proposed for consideration concern areas of importance to society, including the legal and institutional framework, the management of financial instruments, digitalization, infrastructure, ensuring the proper functioning of the electoral system, as well as the social and economic spheres and the media.
According to Parliament’s Rules of Procedure, if the legislature is not in regular session, it may convene for extraordinary or special sessions at the request of the President of the Republic of Moldova, the Speaker of Parliament, or one-third of the deputies.
