Louisa Bogi, the European Commission’s spokesperson on agricultural issues, announced this at a briefing in Brussels. She confirmed that the European Commission had received a request from Ukraine for the allocation of 220 million euros to support farmers who suffered losses due to disruptions in agricultural exports via the Black Sea, Interfax reports.
At the same time, she emphasized that the updated Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between Ukraine and the EU ensures a stable and predictable trade regime for both Ukrainian and European farmers. According to her, the European Union will continue to support Ukraine’s access to international markets, as preserving the export potential of Ukrainian agri-food products is important both for the country’s economy and for global food security.
