As Logos Press previously reported, the draft amendments to the Law on Industrial Parks were approved at today’s government meeting. According to the draft, the law will take effect one month after its publication.

Some of the changes in the document pertain to startups. First, the definition of a startup has been established. A startup is defined as a business entity registered in Moldova no more than 10 years ago and classified as a micro- or small enterprise that develops, tests, or implements an innovative product, service, process, or business model with growth potential. At the same time, its activities must align with the industrial park’s profile.

The bill sets forth the conditions for startups to be located and operate within the park. They will be able to temporarily locate in the industrial park without needing to have resident status. To this end, real estate—excluding land plots—may be leased to them for up to six months.

A lease for this period does not entitle the startup to the benefits provided to industrial park residents. It will not be possible to extend such a lease, and this benefit may be used only once within the park. After six months, a startup will be able to continue operating in the park only if it subsequently obtains resident status.
