The first banks have integrated a digital wallet for identity verification

FinComBank and Moldindconbank have become the first banks in Moldova to integrate the EVO digital ID wallet. Customers can now use digital documents stored on their phones to verify their identity at bank branches.

The process takes just a few seconds: the customer scans a QR code displayed at a bank branch, reviews the requested information, and confirms its transmission. The bank receives only the necessary information, and no data is transmitted without the user’s consent.

According to Michelle Iliev, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, this is the first time the national digital identification infrastructure has been used in the private sector.

She noted that in the coming years, the government intends to expand the use of the digital wallet and integrate it with a wider range of public and private services.

“We hope that this product will be widely used and that next year we will have not 20 integrated services, but at least 200,” the State Secretary noted.
