However, according to RAIL.insider, the Moldovan side is primarily interested in the volume of freight traffic when it comes to granting discounts.

Valery Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation Technology and Commercial Operations at JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia,” confirmed the request for discounts and noted that discussions are taking place both at the ministerial level and between the railway companies of both countries.

The Moldovan carrier is primarily interested in the volume of freight that Ukrainian shippers plan to transport.

Separately, issues related to locomotive traction were raised during the negotiations. “Moldovan Railways” reports a shortage of its own locomotives. In this regard, the Moldovan side is requesting that Ukrzaliznytsia’s traction rolling stock be used to ensure train movement through its territory.

Negotiations between the parties are ongoing. Representatives of the carrier have committed to announcing the final results immediately after decisions are made.
