The recall of the product from retail chains was prompted by the discovery of potentially hazardous substances in the product—the carcinogens 3-MCPD (3-monochloro-1,2-propanediol) and glycidyl fatty acid esters.

The ANSA news agency recommends that consumers who have purchased cookies from the specified batch refrain from eating them and return them to the store, according to a statement from the agency.
