Major transportation infrastructure projects will go through the approval process more quickly. The maximum duration of the procedures will be four years, including the preparation of documentation and other preliminary activities (feasibility studies, design, land and property acquisition, specialized studies, and the issuance of permits).
The changes also aim to streamline administrative procedures for road, rail, maritime, and air infrastructure, as well as other projects included in the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
For cross-border projects, Moldova will be able to coordinate approval schedules with neighboring countries and establish joint bodies to manage the procedures. The approved document also establishes clear rules for public procurement carried out as part of these investments.
Despite the streamlining of bureaucratic procedures, requirements regarding environmental protection and mandatory public consultations with citizens remain unchanged.
