At the same time, the form for the relevant license is being approved. It was developed and submitted for public comment by the Ministry of Justice. Suggestions and comments from interested parties regarding the draft may be submitted until July 24, 2026.

Currently, only a mediator’s certificate is issued based on the results of a qualifying exam. Starting September 12, 2026, obtaining a license to practice this profession will become mandatory.

The license form will be a strictly accountable document and will ensure both its individualization and confirmation of the legal basis for issuance. It will specify the number and date of the Licensing Commission’s decision.

In the event of cessation of activities or revocation of the license, it must be returned to the Union of Mediators within 10 days.

According to the new Law on Mediation and the Status of Mediators, a license to practice as a mediator is issued by the Ministry of Justice for an indefinite term upon payment of a fee of 450 lei, to be deposited into the ministry’s account.

The license form will take effect simultaneously with the entry into force of the new Law on Mediation and the Status of Mediators.
