Gazprom has proposed canceling payments to members of the Moldovagaz board

Constantin Cuiumju, a member of parliament from “Our Party,” stated that government representatives on the Moldovagaz Supervisory Board rejected a proposal to cancel payments to board members, even though Gazprom had put forward that initiative.

Appearing on TVC21, the lawmaker explained that decisions regarding the amount of payments cannot be made by just one party, as this requires a two-thirds majority.

“Neither Gazprom without Moldova nor Moldova without Gazprom can change the amount of payments. The votes of both parties are necessary to make such a decision,” said Constantin Cuiumju.

According to the lawmaker, last year, government representatives proposed only reducing the amount of the payments, while Gazprom advocated for their complete cancellation, arguing that members of the Supervisory Board already hold government positions and receive salaries from the state budget.

“Gazprom” proposed canceling these payments. The argument was simple: these people are ministers, state secretaries, and other high-ranking officials who already receive salaries from public funds. “Government representatives did not support this proposal,” said Cuiumju.

The lawmaker claims that a similar initiative was put forward again this year, but representatives of the Republic of Moldova once again voted against canceling the payments.
