In early October, Turkish authorities tightened phytosanitary legislation in terms of traceability of goods, which partially blocked trade flows of Moldovan grain and oilseeds to the Turkish market through the port of Constanta, – reports Logos Press.

According to USDA’s U.S. Department of Agriculture, global wheat reserves for end-use in 2025 have fallen to a level comparable to the corresponding figure for 2015.

Claims to one of the quality parameters of Moldovan wheat by some buyers in the EU countries may reduce its competitiveness on the European market.

On the grain market of Moldova, as well as in many regions of the world, a rare situation has occurred – the average price for barley has equaled or even exceeded the average price for wheat, including food wheat, – reports Logos Press.

Over the past week, the price of food and feed wheat in Ukraine rose by 2% and 4% respectively, to an average of 219$/t and 215$/t in the south and center of the country, Logos Press reported.

The campaign of harvesting of grain and oilseed crops of the first group is unfolding in Moldova. It is too early to judge about its results “in hectares and tons”. However, some market trends are already clearly visible.

In the 2024-25 marketing season, Moldova became the third largest exporter of wheat to the EU market with a share of 8.1% and a volume of 603.8 thousand tons.

Moldova is expected to receive about 1.2-1.3 million tons of wheat this year,” Logos Press reports.
