In the Central and Southeastern Europe (CESEC) region, much of the capacity of the Trans-Balkan corridor remains underutilized despite growing demand for south-to-north gas supplies to Ukraine, Logos Press reports.

Moldova, along with Ukraine, will receive gas from Azerbaijan via the Trans-Balkan corridor after this route becomes fully functional, Logos Press quoted the Energy Ministry as saying.

“A ‘strategically important step’ Ukraine and Azerbaijan intend to take to establish gas supplies on a long-term basis along the Trans-Balkan corridor, Logos Press reported.

In addition to current gas supplies from Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, Ukraine may soon start importing through the Trans-Balkan corridor,” Logos Press reported.
