The state budget allocated 62.3 million lei for sports scholarships this year, which is almost twice as much as last year’s amount – about 32 million lei, Logos Press reported.

In January, Moldovan athletes started to receive increased scholarships, as well as bonuses for achievements at international and national competitions, according to the decisions adopted by the government in 2025, Logos Press reported.

The Ministry of Education and Research has announced the expansion of the athletic scholarship program to include new age categories starting Jan. 1, 2026, Logos Press reports.
