In 2026 Moldova will receive a grant of EUR 1.85 million from Germany to support SME investments in energy efficiency.

The majority of SMEs in Moldova consider the business environment in the country to be average or favorable. These are the results of a survey conducted by iData between October and November 2025 on a sample of 397 active micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

In Moldova, lending to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has increased by more than 17% annually over the last 5 years, rising from 16 billion lei in 2021 to 29 billion lei in 2025.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for 99.1% of all enterprises in Chisinau and provide more than 334 thousand jobs or 61.6% of the total number of jobs in Moldova, Logos Press reported.

Entrepreneurs will no longer have to figure out what procedure to use to ask the government for business support and how to fill out documents, the format of which will be unified, Logos Press reports.

The revenue from the sale of goods and services of small and medium-sized businesses in 2024 amounted to 308 billion lei or 46.1% of the sum of sales revenues in the whole economy, Logos Press reported.

A part of small entrepreneurs in Romania, frightened by the upcoming tax increase, is going to move their business to Moldova, – reports Logos Press.
