EU Ambassador to Chisinau Iwona Perko notes that the war in Ukraine complicates, but at the same time accelerates the process of Moldova’s European integration, and citizens are already beginning to feel the first benefits of rapprochement with the European Union, Logos Press reports.

Ukraine, like Moldova, has completed the bilateral screening stage and is ready for the next step in the European integration process, but it does not yet have the support of all EU member states. Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gerasimov believes that it is the EU’s duty to break this deadlock, Logos Press reported.

The bilateral RM-EU screening process ended on September 22, during which more than 100 thousand pages of Moldovan normative and legislative acts were analyzed for compliance with the European legislation during 15 months, – reports Logos-Press.

Within the framework of Moldova’s accession to the European Union, the participants in the meeting discussed the implementation of the European legislation in the energy sector, Logos Press reported citing the Ministry of Energy.

The Republic of Moldova has begun bilateral screening with the EU on Section 27, ‘Environment and Climate Change,’ one of the most complex areas in terms of harmonising local and European legislation, according to Logos Press.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) will start from June 2 screening sessions with the European Commission in Brussels to assess Moldova’s readiness for EU accession in the fields of agriculture and rural development, food safety, fisheries and aquaculture, Logos Press reports.
