The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a decision on the reorganization of the State Enterprise “Moldovan Railway” by means of division (separation) and creation of a new Joint Stock Company Calea Ferată din Moldova “Pasageri și Marfă” (Railway “Passengers and Cargo”) with 100% state capital, Logos Press reported.

All Moldovan state enterprises in the future should switch to new organizational-legal forms corresponding to the modern economic realities, Logos Press reports.

The operator of the electricity transmission system, SE Moldelectrica, will be reorganized into a joint stock company with 100% state capital, Logos Press reported.

The Public Property Agency will receive 20 million lei from the state budget for the reorganization of the State Enterprise “Moldovan Railway,” Logos Press reports.

The state-owned enterprise Termoelectrica SA made a net profit of 404.3 million lei for the first quarter of 2025, which is more than 3.4 times more compared to the same period last year, when the profit amounted to “only” 118 million lei, – Logos Press reported.

In June 2025, the project to rehabilitate the 233-kilometer-long Bender-Causeni-Basarabeasca-Etulia-Giurgiulesti railroad section was to be completed. This is the most important and largest track repair project in the history of independent Moldova. However, back in August 2024, the works were extended until 2027 – due to the increased volume. Some sections of the road turned out to be in much poorer condition than thought and needed major repairs.
