Romania will allocate 1.7 million euros to carry out an inventory of Moldovan forests, which will be the first complete and up-to-date assessment of forests in Moldova, Logos Press reports.

In the period of 2026-2030, the total limit (allowable volume) of timber mass harvesting within the framework of main use logging is approved in the amount of 1,723.3 thousand m³, according to Logos Press.

In Moldova, there are only 0.2 hectares of forest plantations per inhabitant, while the world average is 0.5 hectares. Our country ranks 122nd out of 188 in the world ranking.

The discussion about the admissibility of implementing the National Reforestation Program mainly by planting new plantations of white acacia continues in the information space of Moldova, – reports Logos Press.

Nearly four dozen non-governmental environmental organisations, scientists, volunteers and journalists have sent a petition to the president, prime minister and heads of relevant ministries requesting an urgent transition within the framework of the National Forest Expansion Programme 2023-2032 to switch from mass planting of acacia plantations to reforestation using local tree species, Logos Press reports.
