While until now a company that imports goods in paper or cardboard packaging was obliged to recycle it at the rate of 30%, this target approved in the legislation is now increased by 10%. The increases will affect all types of packaging and waste. The target for glass and metal packaging is also increased to 40%, plastic must be recycled at 25% and wood at 10%.

About 200 thousand tons of apples have been processed by the beginning of November at five Moldovan factories producing apple concentrate, – reports Logos Press.

In the previous few seasons on the fruit market of Moldova, the ratio of dessert apple (“frosh”, for the “fresh market”) to industrial apple (for all types of processing) was about 30/70. In the best case – 40/60. This year, because of the specific conditions that are coming up, the balance may change in favor of “frosh”. But it is not certain yet.

Due to too high prices for berries and early stone fruits, canning enterprises in Moldova had to cut back their programs of processing these raw materials.

A Recycling and Environmental Management Center (CRME) will be built in the capital of Moldova as part of the Municipal Solid Waste Project financed by the EBRD and the European Investment Bank. The total amount of the project is estimated at EUR 200 million. The relevant loan agreements with these institutions have already been signed, and they provide for a grant component.
