On February 5, the Executive Committee of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) unanimously decided to keep the key rate at the current level, confirming experts’ forecasts about the end of the monetary policy easing period, Logos Press reports.

At its last meeting of the year, the US Federal Reserve cut its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 3.5-3.75%, Logos Press reported.

The central bank went for further monetary policy easing, unanimously cutting the benchmark rate from 6% to 5% at the NBM Executive Committee meeting on December 11, Logos Press reported.

The Executive Committee of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) at its August 7 meeting unanimously reduced the prime rate applied to the main short-term operations of the monetary policy to 6.25% per annum, keeping the mandatory reserve requirement for banks at the current level of 22% of the calculated base – for Moldovan lei and 31% – for convertible currency, – Logos Press reports.
