On January 5, the National Social Insurance Fund (CNAS) will start paying pensions and benefits for January, Logos Press reported.

Moldovan citizens who have legally worked in Canada will be able to receive pensions and other social benefits of this country, Logos Press reports.

The Cabinet of Ministers has reallocated the available financial resources in this year’s budget to pay pensions, salaries and allowances, as well as to replenish the fund intended for compensations, Logos Press reported.

The level of indexation of pensions in Moldova in 2025 exceeded the inflation rate. According to the authorities, this ensured a real increase in the income of pensioners. The opposition believes that they were only restored their income to the level of the previous year, taking into account price increases, and that the rights of pensioners were violated due to insufficient compensation for past years. Experts say that the pension system requires deep reform for sustainable and fair pension provision. Otherwise, both the state and pensioners themselves will continue to “run as hard as they can just to stay where they are”.

Pensioners in Moldova are on the second place in the list of recipients of the lowest pensions in Europe, ahead of only the neighboring Ukrainians, – reports Logos Press.
