Russian oil company Lukoil has transferred its assets at Chisinau International Airport to Moldovan state ownership, Logos Press reported.

Russian oil company Lukoil has reached a preliminary agreement to sell almost all of its foreign assets with U.S. investment company Carlyle, Logos Press reported.

Chevron and private investment group Quantum Energy Partners are teaming up to bid for foreign assets of Russian oil company Lukoil.

A former senior adviser to US President Donald Trump, Brian Lanza, has become a consultant to Lukoil’s international division. According to Politico, citing two sources familiar with the situation, he worked with Trump during the 2024 election, Logos Press reported.

U.S. oil company Exxon Mobil said it is considering options to acquire some of the international assets of Russian oil giant Lukoil, which has been hit by U.S. sanctions, Logos Press reported.

Moldova and Romania have almost synchronously started the process of temporary control over Lukoil’s assets to prevent possible disruptions in fuel supplies,” Logos Press reported.

After US sanctions were imposed on Lukoil, the company announced the sale of all foreign assets, including Moldova. The country’s authorities are monitoring the situation to ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies, especially for the Chisinau International Airport, and are considering a possible change of ownership, not excluding even partial nationalization.

The Moldovan government is closely monitoring the situation with the supply of oil products to Chisinau International Airport, where the only fuel supplier is the Russian company Lukoil, which has been subjected to US sanctions. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu emphasized the need for a balanced approach and actions within the law, including taking into account the state’s obligations,” Logos Press reported.

Russia’s second-largest oil producer Lukoil said it plans to sell its overseas assets after the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on the company to pressure the Kremlin to end the war in Ukraine, Logos Press reported.

Germany and France have proposed to impose sanctions against Russian oil company Lukoil and its subsidiary Litasco as part of the new, 19th, package of sanctions of the European Union, – Logos Press reports with reference to the AFP agency.
