Moldova did not receive an official notification about Russia’s blocking at the border and ban on import of more than 20 tons of Moldovan apples.

Importers of foods for infants and toddlers, foods for special medical purposes, for total dietary replacement for weight control purposes, will have to comply with the new rules, Logos Press reports.

Moldova is not only the largest buyer of Ukrainian-made cheese, but is also increasing its share in the purchase of this product, Logos Press reported.

Importers and manufacturers of medicines will have to pay a fee of 0.3% of the value of the batch of imported medicines at the stages of importation and, accordingly, placement on the market, Logos Press reports.

In the 2024-25 marketing season, sunflower oil exports from Moldova experienced a difficult period – an unprecedented decline in performance in all major categories.

During the first six months of the year, 453,122 tons of oil products were imported into Moldova, Logos Press reported.

In January-April of this year, Moldova imported Russian-made chocolate worth 40.5 million lei, Logos Press reports.

The European Union will cut imports of Ukrainian wheat and sugar by 80 percent under new quotas, Logos Press reported citing Reuters.

The government today, June 24, decided to extend the licensing regime for imports of wheat, corn and sunflower until December 31, 2025, Logos Press reported, citing a release from the MAIA Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.

Export of goods from Moldova decreased by 11.3% year-on-year in the period from January to April and amounted to $1077.1 million. At the same time, import of foreign goods increased by 16.2% and reached $3407.9 million. Accordingly, the trade balance deficit increased by 35.7% compared to the same period last year and amounted to $2330.8 million.

In May 2025, the volume of sunflower oil imports to Moldova slightly exceeded 2 thousand tons (worth 54.9 million lei), while exports were 2.6 times lower than imports – 0.79 thousand tons (worth 17.3 million lei), – reports Logos Press.
