Last year was the most difficult year for Moldovan beekeepers: production more than halved to 2.5 thousand tons. This is the lowest figure for the last 15 years.

The Moldovan company Apifera exports about 90% of its production (480 tons of honey) to foreign markets, including Canada, Denmark, France and the UK, Logos Press reported.

Representatives of the National Association of Beekeepers of Moldova ANARM estimate the production of commercial honey in 2025 to be below 3 thousand tons, – reports Logos Press.

Due to the peculiar weather this spring across Europe, there is a high demand from European traders for acacia honey with a very scarce supply, according to Logos Press.

Wholesale prices for current year honey increased by about 10-15% in September compared to summer levels, according to Logos Press.

In the period from January to April this year, the physical export of Moldovan honey increased by 40% compared to the same period last year – up to 1.8 thousand tons. In financial terms, shipments abroad are estimated at $4.7 million, with an average invoice price of about $2.6/kg. Employees of industry associations of beekeepers and honey exporters believe that the active export of honey from the Republic of Moldova will continue, due to large stocks of products from previous years.
