In the coming months, the port of Giurgiulesti will start implementing large-scale investment projects with the participation of Romanian entrepreneurs, aimed at developing logistics infrastructure and expanding export opportunities for Moldovan producers, Logos Press reported.

Romania is taking the final steps to transfer the “Constanta Seaport Authority” to Danube Logistics, operator of the Giurgiulesti International Free Port.

The transfer of control over the Giurgiulesti International Free Port to the state should take place at market value in order not to be considered illegal, Logos Press reports.

The parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finance did not have enough votes to support an amendment to the draft budget-2026, which envisages the allocation of up to 1 billion lei (52 million euros) to buy out the controlling stake of the Giurgiulesti International Free Port and return it to state ownership, Logos Press reported.

Moldova’s state port is not for sale – there are no such plans or discussions. Negotiations between the EBRD and the Romanian port of Constanta are being held solely on the purchase and sale of the Giurgiulesti International Free Port, Logos Press reports.

The United Nations estimates the total cost of Ukraine’s post-war recovery and reconstruction at $524 billion over the next decade. These figures are up to date as of the end of 2024, with the cost estimates increasing every year. New figures are expected by the end of this year.

Negotiations on the sale of Giurgiulesti port are ongoing, the deal has not yet been finalized, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization said.

Romanian Transport Minister Ciprian Sherban has announced the acceptance of Romania’s proposal to acquire the Giurgiulesti port in Moldova. According to the official, the final details of the deal will be agreed in the near future, Logos Press reported.

The new German Ambassador to Moldova Hubert Knirsch familiarized himself with the infrastructure and current activities of the Giurgiulesti port. They were introduced by Matthias von Tucher, General Director of Danube Logistics.

The Danube Sea Ports Administration wants to buy the Giurgiulesti port in Moldova from the EBRD and needs the help of a specialized consultant, Logos Press reports.
