In May 2025, the volume of sunflower oil imports to Moldova slightly exceeded 2 thousand tons (worth 54.9 million lei), while exports were 2.6 times lower than imports – 0.79 thousand tons (worth 17.3 million lei), – reports Logos Press.

The sales season of Moldovan apples of last year’s harvest has come to a close. The stocks of export-quality goods are almost exhausted, and they will be barely enough to supply the domestic market of Moldova in June – the last month of the “apple” 2024-25 marketing year (MY). Logos Press correspondent tried, with the help of experts from two corporate associations of fruit business, to make a balance of the passing season and analyze the preconditions of the situation on the market of this fruit in the new MY.

The ranking of the most exported goods from Moldova in January-March 2025 was headed by wires, cables and other conductors; sunflower seeds and wines from fresh grapes, including fortified ones, – Logos Press reports.

The European Union has agreed to renew quotas on imports of agricultural goods from Ukraine, which will start to be applied from June 6, – Logos Press reports with reference to Bloomberg.

From April 2024 to April 2025, only about 138 thousand tons of corn were exported from Moldova, which is 68% less than the previous season (434 thousand tons), – reports Logos Press with reference to the Association of Grain Exporters Agrocereale.

US President Donald Trump has announced that he is imposing duties of 10% for most countries in the world, as well as additional differentiated duties for some states. Moldova was on the list of those for whom the payments increased the most – by 31% cumulatively,” Logos Press reported.
