Residents of three high-rise buildings in Chisinau will be able to improve their living conditions and reduce their energy bills thanks to upcoming energy-saving works, Logos Press reported.

The Moldovan government plans to spend 8.6 million lei without VAT to replace windows in the central administrative building located on Stefan cel Mare Boulevard, Logos Press reported.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) supported Chisinau with a loan of 11.5 million euros to finance a comprehensive program to improve the energy efficiency of public buildings, particularly kindergartens, Logos Press reported.

The Energy Ministry claims that Moldova’s high heat bills are mostly due to the low energy efficiency of Soviet-era buildings, Logos Press reports.

In 2026 Moldova will receive a grant of EUR 1.85 million from Germany to support SME investments in energy efficiency.

The project “Strong Enterprises and Municipalities for Moldova”, worth 3.68 million euros, will be realized with the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), Logos Press reports.

For two years already, the Catincuța kindergarten in the village of Pascaani, Cahul district, has not paid for electricity thanks to the photovoltaic panels installed there. During this period, about 140 thousand lei were saved.

The National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED) has reported on its work in 2025, according to Logos Press.

In Chisinau, all buildings should undergo an expert examination and be classified according to the degree of seismic resistance. This was announced by the state secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Veaceslav Shipitca, on a local TV channel.

About 15 small residential buildings underwent energy audits, of which 10 buildings with more than 120 apartments were selected for the development of technical design documentation for energy rehabilitation, Logos Press reports.

Renovated to improve energy efficiency, the buildings help save up to 60 percent of final energy consumption, allowing for a return on investment in 9 to 16 ribbons, depending on electricity rates, Logos Press reported.

From October 3 to October 19, 2025, 1,967 families benefited from the government’s EcoVoucher program by replacing old appliances with new ones, Logos Press reported.
