The French Development Agency (AFD) will grant Moldova a 25-million-euro loan for the development of green energy. The signing of this agreement was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers today, August 6, Logos Press reported.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a EUR 400 million loan to Moldova’s state energy trader Energocom SA to increase the country’s energy security by buying gas and electricity on European markets, Logos Press reports.

Moldova has received more than 244 million euros from the European Investment Bank EIB Global to modernize the energy sector in the capital and build a new hospital in Cahul, Logos Press reported.

This is stipulated by a relevant amendment to the loan agreement between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the implementation of works on the construction and reconstruction of roads, the ratification of which was backed by the cabinet.

Moldova’s gross external debt increased in the first quarter of 2025 by 3.0% (+$303.82 million) and amounted to $10,517.15 million, which is 57.4% of GDP (+1.3 p.p. from the beginning of the year), – reports Logos Press.

The government has allocated 35 million euros to renovate and equip 15 general education institutions with modern equipment and furniture,” Logos Press reports.

The French Development Agency will provide the Moldovan government with a loan of 30 million euros to implement the project “Initiative for the Development of Sustainable Public Infrastructure through Energy Efficient Reconstruction,” Logos Press reports.

Part of the EU loan funds will be used to fulfill the government’s budgetary obligations to pay pensions and allowances to the population,” Logos Press reports.

Ukraine has signed a 270m-euro loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to create strategic natural gas reserves, Logos Press has reported.

About 730 young people from all over the country will have the opportunity to be accommodated in modern dormitories modernized within the project “Public Housing III”. The cooperation agreement on the implementation of this project was signed by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea, the Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun and the director of the National Office for Infrastructure Development “Moldova-Proiect”, Junona Lungul.
