The Republic of Moldova has dropped 5 positions over the year, from 103rd place in 2024 to 108th place in 2025, according to the new WJP Rule of Law Index 2025, Logos Press reports.

Employees of the National Anti-Corruption Center (NAC) have uncovered a corruption scheme in the State Tax Service, one official of the State Tax Service has been detained, three are under investigation, Logos Press reports.

Corruption remains a pervasive problem that threatens the rule of law, democracy and social justice. It undermines public trust in institutions, distorts fair competition and hinders economic and social development. As the methods of corruption become more sophisticated, the need for strong, transparent and accountable institutions increases.
