Councillors of the capital’s municipal council have not yet started considering the budget for the current year, which creates a ridiculous situation – Chisinau continues to live under the 2024 budget, Logos Press reported.

In Chisinau municipality, investment projects worth a total of 4.5 billion lei are in the implementation stage, including within the support of various EU financial instruments, Logos Press reported.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for 99.1% of all enterprises in Chisinau and provide more than 334 thousand jobs or 61.6% of the total number of jobs in Moldova, Logos Press reported.

The capital city’s positive natural population growth increased in the first half of 2025, which goes against the demographic trends of the whole country in recent decades, Logos Press reported.

The Chisinau Municipal Council once again failed to approve the 2025 budget. At the May 20 meeting, councilors agreed on only one agenda item, after which the MAN faction proposed a pause until next Tuesday.
