Farmers’ organizations intend to return the demand to the authorities to resume licensing of imports of grain and oilseed crops from Ukraine in the near future, Logos Press reported.

In many agro-climatic models of the present and near future, practically the whole territory of the Republic of Moldova belongs to the zone of risky agriculture. Frequent and constantly tightening droughts lead to a decrease in agricultural productivity, while high prices for fuel, fertilizers and phytosanitary products reduce the profitability of agricultural production. In this context, the choice of crops for crop rotations is beginning to play a key role in agribusiness, without any alternatives.

The government today, June 24, decided to extend the licensing regime for imports of wheat, corn and sunflower until December 31, 2025, Logos Press reported, citing a release from the MAIA Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.

At the end of May, cereals and oilseed crops retained the status of absolute leader in exports both in physical volume (92.91%) and in value terms (80.90%) of the total volume of supplies from the Republic of Moldova abroad,” Logos Press reports.
