The current account deficit of the Balance of Payments in Q3 2025 was $867 million compared to $995 million in Q2 and $883 million in Q3 2024, Logos Press reported.

The current account deficit widened by 76% to $2.026 billion in the first half of 2025, Logos Press reported.

Moldova’s current account of the balance of payments in the first quarter of 2025 showed an alarming increase in the deficit to 26% of GDP, exceeding $1 bln. The closest to this level was recorded 16 years ago. Last year’s figures were much more modest, although also very high: 17% of GDP in the second and third quarters of 2024 and 18% in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Moldova’s current account deficit in 2024 increased by 54%, from $1.9 billion in 2023 to $2.9 billion at the end of last year.
