The Apele Moldovei agency is obliged to identify ponds and reservoirs damaging the environment every five years and apply liquidation procedures to them, Logos Press reported.

Due to a decrease in the water level in the Dniester River, it may be necessary to increase the volume of water discharged into Moldova from Ukraine, Logos Press reports.

The national administration “Apele Moldovei” will be able to monitor the condition of dams and prevent the risk of floods with the help of a high-performance GPR system acquired with the support of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), Sweden and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Moldova, – Logos Press reports.

Flood protection dams have been transferred to the management of “Apele Moldovei”. This has become a necessary measure to ensure the safety of the population and agricultural lands,” Logos Press reported.
