The administrations of the State Enterprise “Railway of Moldova” and the Association of Grain Exporters Agrocereale have not agreed to work together to optimize tariffs for grain transportation, increased by 7% in autumn, Logos Press reports.

The Association of Grain Exporters Agrocereale calls on the management of the State Enterprise “Railway of Moldova” to provide information on the volume of transportation of grain and oilseed crops in the period September-November, as well as on the number of confirmed requests for transportation of these cargoes in December 2025, – reports Logos Press.

Last month, grains and oilseeds accounted for about 87% of the physical and 75% of the financial volume of Moldova’s exports of field products, Logos Press reported.

The area of grain corn sown for the harvest-2025 has shrunk to about 300 thousand hectares. Last year, this crop occupied 464 thousand hectares in the Republic of Moldova.

From April 2024 to April 2025, only about 138 thousand tons of corn were exported from Moldova, which is 68% less than the previous season (434 thousand tons), – reports Logos Press with reference to the Association of Grain Exporters Agrocereale.

In the period January-April 2025, the total volume of Moldovan wheat exports amounted to only 215.5 thousand tons, which is 48% less than in the same period last year (415 thousand tons) – reports Logos Press with reference to the Association of Grain Exporters Agrocereale.

If we measure the temperature of Moldovan agriculture by the volume of imports of mineral fertilizers, we can conclude that the health of this very important component of the national economy is far from all right.
