The Moldovan government amended the normative acts regulating the payment of bonuses for achievements in international competitions. They regulate the manner of remuneration of athletes depending on the age category and level of the tournament.
Previously, young athletes received awards in accordance with the regulation on payments to juniors, which, according to the Ministry of Education and Research, did not reflect their real contribution to the popularization of sports among young people and the achievement of successes of youth teams in international competitions.
Monetary and other material rewards for distinguished athletes will be awarded at the request of the respective sports federations within the allocated budget. The authors of the amendments believe that this decision is aimed at supporting young athletes and contributes to building a fairer system of rewarding athletes.
The decision also applies to coaches of athletes. Their contribution to the achievements of their wards is also officially recognized with the payment of commensurate monetary bonuses.
