Thus, alcoholic beverages became one of the main groups of goods that Moldova exports to the United States. In the statistics of domestic wine production for 2024, this direction grew like on yeast, expressing in hundreds of percent.
The main contribution to the increase of this segment was made by Kazayak-vin. Thanks to her, the U.S. took the first place in the top 10 markets. But it has not just influenced the statistics. Wines are produced under private label for the very popular in the USA brand XXL-Wines, which has become a real sales hit.
“Last year was the peak of deliveries,” says Anatoly Kobzak, commercial director of the Suvorov-vin group of companies. – In fact, work with this partner has been underway since 2019, i.e. this growth did not “shoot up” just like that. Preparations had been underway for several years. Shipments were made in small batches to develop the market and promote the product. In particular, this client bought from us flavored wines with different flavors, 16% strength. This kind of product is very fashionable in the USA – it is such a cocktail theme. And the popularity of the brand is the merit of the partner, who worked with the product directly in America. Only we can exclusively bottle it in Moldova”.
According to the company that owns the brand, XXL-Wines have become a revelation in the world of wine. They are specially created for those who love creative cocktails. XXL Wines were nominated for the Wine Enthusiast magazine “Wine Star Award` 2024” in the category “Innovator of the Year”.
However, the unexpected introduction of 31% duties for exports from Moldova by the USA made a change to this success story. XXL-Wines has suspended its work with the Moldovan producer. According to Suvorov-vin Group CEO Sergey Neruh, supplies may resume if the 31% duty rate is abolished.
