“Today Iran did us wrong. That’s why we defeated them. If there is no ceasefire, you will see a huge flash of light coming from Iran. They better sign an agreement,” the White House head’s statement was quoted by the Telegram channel of the Turkish news agency Yeni Şafak in Russian as saying.
The main threat came when Trump was asked about the future of the ceasefire. He made it clear that in case of a breakdown in negotiations, the consequences would be catastrophic and would not need to be explained in words.
“You won’t have to know anything. If there is no ceasefire, you’ll just have to look at one big flashpoint coming out of Iran,” the president said.
Although the president did not specify exactly what he meant, most observers took the phrase as a hint at the use of nuclear weapons or a massive bombardment that would be seen from afar. However, sources noted that Trump had previously ruled out the use of nuclear weapons.
