Authorities claim that the amendments will help attract private investment and promote the development of professional sports.

The new provisions also allow professional leagues, which are autonomous and apolitical, to be established and operate as public associations, limited liability companies, or joint-stock companies. According to the authors of the initiative, the changes are aimed at adapting the legal framework to modern realities in sports and creating more favorable conditions for private sector participation.

Thanks to these amendments, private legal entities and commercial companies will be able to participate more actively in the development of sports activities. The authorities also seek to strengthen partnerships between sports organizations and investors from within the country and abroad, including through international cooperation.

The draft also updates a number of terms in the legislation, such as “professional sports club,” “professional league,” and “sports organizations,” to better reflect their structure and operations.

At the same time, the law introduces clearer criteria for granting a lifetime allowance to coaches of high-level athletes. Under the new rules, this allowance will be provided to individuals who have reached the standard retirement age and have worked as a coach for at least 20 years.

Authorities believe that the new rules will contribute to the professionalization of sports management and increase the competitiveness of Moldovan clubs.
