More than 50 delegations, including foreign ministers, are expected in the capital. Authorities note that discussions will focus on key priorities identified for the Chairmanship.

“These include continued support for Ukraine, combating disinformation and foreign interference, strengthening security and enhancing democratic sustainability in member states,” Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popšoi said.

At the end of the ministerial session, Moldova will hand over the rotating presidency of the Council of Europe to the Principality of Monaco.

“The Council of Europe is one of the most important European platforms for the defense of democracy, rule of law and fundamental human rights. It was an honor and a great responsibility for our country to lead this organization for six months,” Popşoi said.

Moldova will chair the Committee of Ministers from November 14, 2025 to May 15, 2026. This is the second time when the country fulfills this mandate since it joined the Council of Europe in 1995. The first time was in 2003.

During the mandate, Moldova has organized more than 30 events, including ministerial sessions and cultural events, both in Chisinau and Strasbourg.
