Larisa Miculec announced that she is returning to the diplomatic service and will temporarily head the Moldovan diplomatic mission in Ireland.

“Sometimes life brings you back exactly where you can do the most good at an important stage for the country. A year after my return to Moldova, I am going again – for a certain period of time – to Ireland as Charge d’Affaires of the diplomatic mission,” Larisa Miculec wrote in social networks, stressing that the experience gained in the Presidential Administration gave her a deeper understanding of the foreign policy priorities.

She specified that her main tasks will be the consolidation of the bilateral dialog and close coordination with the Irish authorities in order to back Moldova’s European aspirations:

“In the coming months, important decisions will be taken in Ireland for our region and for Moldova’s European future. To be heard, our message must reach the key decision-makers”.

The personnel reshuffle at the diplomatic mission in Ireland comes shortly after Moldova’s former ambassador to Dublin, Iana Costacchi, was recalled from her post on May 15. Although the official reasons were not disclosed, the decision followed immediately after President Maia Sandu’s official visit to Ireland, during which she met with the Moldovan diaspora.

Larisa Miculets has devoted almost 20 years to diplomatic service in the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Previously, she headed diplomatic missions in Israel, Cyprus and Ireland, and served as deputy permanent representative to the UN in New York.

Ireland holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2026 (July 1 to December 31).
