New border crossing point on the border with Romania

The crossing point will be part of the infrastructure of the road bridge over the Prut River and will contribute to the direct connection of the Republic of Moldova to the European road network.

The Government of the Republic of Moldova approved a protocol amending the bilateral agreement on border crossing points, which will allow the official inclusion of the new facility and its opening to international traffic.

The new infrastructure will also help redistribute traffic flows and reduce the load on the existing border crossing points, in particular Leuseni-Albita and Sculeni-Sculeni. This will reduce waiting times at the border and increase the efficiency of the movement of people and transportation of goods.

The project is expected to contribute to the development of economic ties between the two countries, reduce logistics costs for businesses and strengthen regional connectivity.

The border crossing point will become operational after the completion of the Prut bridge and will provide direct access to Romania’s highway network, including the future A8 highway, as well as to the pan-European TEN-T transportation network.
