To help experts, consumers and businesses distinguish real sustainability from imitation, a scientific and practical guide “The Greenwashing Phenomenon vs. Real Food Security” is being published in Moldova.

The guide was prepared by scientists from the National Institute of Economic Research (INEI) Rodica Perciun, Olga Timofei and Victoria Iordaki. It explains how companies’ false environmental promises can slow the development of safe and sustainable food systems and undermine consumer confidence. The guide will be launched on February 5, 2026 at the NIEI

The guide is addressed to a wide range of readers: students and researchers in the economic and agri-food fields, authorities, businesses, active consumers and journalists.

The project is implemented within the initiative “The greenwashing phenomenon in the context of food security in the Republic of Moldova: best practices and harmonization with the EU”, funded by the Agency for Research and Development (ANCD).
