
According to NewsGeorgia, GEL 5.3 million has been allocated from the government’s reserve fund to the Patriarchate of Georgia to finance related cultural and educational projects.
The celebrations will start on Independence Day and will last all summer, ending on October 14 on Svetitskhovloba Day, one of the main religious holidays of the country. A symposium on the theme “God, Motherland, Man” is scheduled for that day.
The jubilee program dedicated to the history of Christianity in Georgia will include scientific conferences, student expeditions and cultural and educational events.
To prepare the celebrations, the government and the Patriarchate have created a special commission. The commission is co-chaired by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Shio III.
According to Rustavi2, on Independence Day, an oath ceremony for conscripts will be held at Freedom Square in Tbilisi, followed by cultural, sports and entertainment events throughout the city and regions. The national anthem will be played simultaneously across the country at 17:10, followed by gala concerts and festive programs, including exhibitions, concerts and activities for children and families in various cities.
