Sources in the Turkish Defense Ministry told CNN Turk that the meeting would be attended not only by representatives of Russia and Ukraine, mediated by Turkey, but also by military specialists from a number of other foreign countries. But it was not specified which ones.
Turkish media and a number of publications from other European countries are paying great attention to the upcoming meeting, considering it an important step toward achieving sustainable peace in the region.
Recall that the safety of navigation in the Black Sea and the resumption of active trade activities in the Black Sea region was one of the topics of the first talks between the Russian and U.S. delegations in Saudi Arabia in March this year. At that time, they also talked about restoring access of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to the world market. Shortly thereafter, Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the resumption of the Black Sea Initiative during a telephone conversation. The Turkish leader then announced Ankara’s readiness to organize expert meetings to discuss and promote the agreement.
There is no information yet whether representatives of Moldova will take part in the meeting in Ankara. But it is obvious that the possible restoration of safe maritime transportation on the Black Sea may play an important role in the development of foreign trade in Moldovan goods.
