“Armenia continues to face significant economic pressure from Russia, but can be assured that if pressure on its EU partners intensifies, the European Union will take concrete steps to assist them,” von der Leyen said, as quoted by Armenpress.

She also emphasized that the European Union is interested in reducing Armenia’s energy dependence and supporting the diversification of its energy supply sources.

“A group of experts from the EU will arrive in Armenia next week,” the European Commission president added, specifying that their work will be aimed at strengthening the country’s energy resilience.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at a joint press conference that Yerevan is interested in expanding cooperation with the European Union in key strategic areas. According to him, in recent months the parties have made significant progress in developing transport and infrastructure connectivity.

“A clear example of this is the adoption of a joint statement on the Armenia–EU partnership during the Armenia–EU summit,” Pashinyan noted.

He also reported on the progress of joint projects with the EU, the EBRD, and the European Investment Bank, including the preparation of feasibility studies for the modernization of border crossings and road infrastructure.

Pashinyan separately emphasized the strategic importance of energy projects, including the construction of energy storage systems for more efficient use of renewable energy sources.

He added that Armenia looks forward to further cooperation with the EU in the fields of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and innovation, as well as to an increase in European investment.

“In this regard, I attach great importance to Armenia’s participation in projects involving undersea power lines and digital cables in the Black Sea,” the prime minister noted.
