Narendra Modi and Emmanuel Macron
The event, organized by India’s Ministry of Education, brought together 120 Indian startups in sectors such as energy, smart cities and mobility, the space industry, and healthcare.
Emmanuel Macron welcomed India, which he, as quoted by Euronews, views not “simply as a country that supplies talent (…) for industrial or technological outsourcing, ” but as “a major innovator that creates breakthrough models on its own.”
He noted that France has created the most AI jobs in the EU, citing a recent LinkedIn study according to which nearly 20,000 AI-related jobs have been created in Paris since 2023—more than in Berlin, Madrid, Munich, or Dublin.
This trip followed Macron’s official visit to Mumbai in February of this year, which launched the Franco-Indian Year of Innovation.
Afterward, the French and Indian delegations will travel separately to Evian. From Monday, June 15, through Wednesday, June 17, the resort will host the G7 summit, to which India—a member of BRICS—has also been invited this year.
