Viorel Bostan, Rector of the Technical University of Moldova (TUM), is confident that experts with deep knowledge and skills in working with AI tools will remain indispensable for employers. Although routine tasks – such as writing basic program code or creating simple platforms – are already being taken over by new technologies, human experience and the ability to think critically remain irreplaceable.
The analysis presented by Rector highlights that the initial enthusiasm of a number of companies to completely replace humans with AI agents has, in many cases, led to unsatisfactory results.
“There are always extremes: there are examples where companies, having decided to follow the wave of AI reforms, fired all their programmers, but then discovered many errors and gaps in the decisions made by AI agents and were forced to return to the human resource, to natural intelligence. They will coexist, and I am convinced that a well-trained IT specialist with deep knowledge of artificial intelligence will always have a job,” Viorel Bostan said on the air of UNU TV.
The rector notes that both regionally and globally, companies are increasingly favoring candidates who possess the fundamentals of the profession, who are capable of adapting to change, rather than relying on short-term technologies that quickly become obsolete.
“I see this as a natural process. Fundamental knowledge now comes to the fore rather than short-term technology skills that can very quickly become obsolete,” Viorel Bostan summarized.
