
The revenue of this segment grew at a CAGR of 6.1% in 2025 to reach nearly half of the overall market.
According to the National Communications Regulatory Agency (ANRC), revenues from mobile services amounted to approximately 185.6 million lei.
On the contrary, fixed telephony continues to lose ground at an accelerated pace. The revenues in this segment fell by 18.3%, while the number of subscribers decreased significantly – by more than 111,000 compared to the previous year. Specialists explain this trend by a change in the behavior of users, who are increasingly switching to mobile services, preferring their flexibility and constant access to the Internet.
In the mobile segment, the total number of active SIM cards reached approximately 3.6 million, showing a slight decrease of 2.1%. At the same time, the number of subscribers continues to grow, supported by more attractive packages that include additional services such as roaming or enhanced mobile internet access.
The penetration rate of mobile services has reached approximately 150 SIM cards per 100 inhabitants, indicating that many users are using multiple cards at the same time, either to benefit from different offers or to separate personal and professional activities.
Despite the decrease in the total number of SIM cards, voice traffic remained stable, recording a slight increase of 0.5%, indicating a steady utilization of basic services.
Overall, the electronic communications market continued to grow in 2025, reaching a total revenue of LE 6.63 billion, up 4.2% year-on-year. At the same time, the number of active providers decreased to 315, 20 fewer than in 2024. This indicates a consolidation of the market, with fewer players managing larger volumes of services.
