According to the Japanese Embassy in Chisinau, the visit marks an important moment in Moldovan-Japanese relations. Yoshimasa Hayashi, who is also chairman of the Japan-Moldova parliamentary friendship group, previously held important positions in the Japanese government, including secretary general of the government and foreign minister.
The official delegation also includes Shigeharu Aoyama, Japan’s Minister of State for the Environment.
The program of the Japanese representative’s visit includes meetings with the main leaders of Moldova: President Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, Foreign Minister Mihai Popşoi, Interior Minister Daniela Misail-Nikitin and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugeniu Osmokescu.
The key moment of the visit will be the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation in the Digital Sphere, which will lay the foundation for a technological partnership between the two states. The document is aimed at supporting modernization and digitalization processes in Moldova with the help of Japanese experience.
According to the Japanese diplomatic mission, the visit is aimed at deepening the bilateral dialog and identifying new opportunities for cooperation. The discussions will also touch upon regional security issues, as well as prospects for the development of the Moldovan-Japanese partnership.
