Subsidies for opening jobs for people with disabilities will increase by 21%.

The amount of subsidies provided to employers for the employment of persons with disabilities may be increased by 21%. The reason is that the current limits do not cover the costs incurred, including those incurred at specialized enterprises, to ensure working conditions for employees.

In this context, specialists of the Ministry of Finance finalized draft amendments to the Regulation on subsidizing jobs. The document has been submitted for public consultations.

The proposed changes are initiated in order to improve the mechanism of employment of persons with special needs. Due to inflation, the limits defined by the legislation are not sufficient to ensure acceptable working conditions for employees.

The amount of subsidies is determined depending on the degree of disability of the employed persons and the category of the enterprise (specialized/non-specialized). It is set as a percentage of the amount of taxes paid on wages and salaries during the period for which the subsidy is requested.

Today, the subsidy ranges from 1000 lei to 6000 lei per month per employee. After the increase, the amount will increase from 1210 lei to 7260 lei per month per employee.

According to preliminary estimates, the increase in support for employers will require additional funds in the amount of 2.9 million lei over the 20 million lei approved in the state budget for the current year.

The amendments will be enforced as of the date of their publication.
