The breakdown by regions, provided by the State Tax Service, shows that the lion’s share – over 6.5 thousand contracts – falls on the capital, respectively, the tax in Chisinau municipality collected almost 25 million lei. In Balti, almost 600 contracts were registered, and the tax amount exceeded 1 million lei.
Experts explain the growth by risks
At the same time, experts do not think that one can speak about the emergence of a rentier class in Moldova. They explain the growth of legalization of such transactions by the necessity to prove the origin of financial means.
And also new risks. Today the STS has much more levers to detect tax evaders, including electronic platforms. Besides, it is more profitable for a taxpayer to register and pay tax. He can then turn to the police in case of unscrupulous tenants.
The main factor in the growth of tax revenues remains the increase in the cost of rent.
